What a Gantt chart is for
A Gantt chart puts each task on a timeline as a bar running from its start date to its end date. You can see at a glance what happens when, what overlaps, and whether the finish date still holds.
See the whole schedule
Every phase sits on one timeline, so gaps and pile-ups are obvious before they cause trouble.
Spot overlaps early
When testing starts before the build finishes, the bars overlap and you can plan who covers both.
Protect the deadline
If one bar slips, you can see straight away which later work moves with it.
What's in the template
Seven phases with dates counted from the day you open it. Rename, re-date, split or delete any of them.
Kick-off
Agree goals, scope, owners and how progress will be reported.
Requirements
Collect must-haves, constraints and how you'll measure success.
Plan and sign-off
Turn requirements into a plan or design and get it approved.
Build
The main body of work. Break it into smaller cards as the detail becomes clear.
Test and review
Check the work against the requirements and fix what fails.
Launch
Release, hand over or publish, with a checklist for the day.
Retrospective
Record what worked and what to change on the next project.
Your own phases
Add any task with a start and due date and it joins the timeline.
Using the Gantt chart
Open the template
On a computer the plan opens straight into the Gantt Chart view. Switch to Board from the view menu at any time: it's the same tasks, shown as columns. On a phone it opens as the board.
Set real dates
Open a task and change its start and due dates. Its bar moves on the timeline as soon as you save.
Track progress on the board
Drag cards from To Do to In Progress, Review and Done as the work moves. The timeline stays in step.
Share or export
Send a read-only link, export to CSV for a spreadsheet, or print the plan for a meeting.
Gantt chart vs Kanban board
A Gantt chart answers "when": the schedule, the dependencies, the deadline. A Kanban board answers "where is it now": what's waiting, in progress or done. Most projects need both, so this template gives you the two views of the same tasks instead of two tools to keep in sync.

Common questions
Is this Gantt chart template really free?
Yes. The template and the Gantt view are part of the free plan. You don't need an account or a payment card to open it.
Do I need to download anything?
No. The chart opens in your browser. You can export the plan as CSV or JSON, or print it, whenever you need a copy.
How do I change the dates on the Gantt chart?
Open any task and edit its start date and due date. The bar on the timeline moves as soon as you save.
Where is my project plan stored?
Without an account, the plan stays in your own browser's storage. If you sign in, it syncs to your account so you can open it on other devices and share it with teammates.
Can I share the Gantt chart with someone?
Yes. Use Share in the app to create a read-only link. The plan is packed into the link itself, so the person you send it to can view it and copy it into their own board without signing up.
