What RACI means
A RACI matrix is a table of tasks against people. Each cell says how that person is involved in that task, so nobody has to guess who owns what.
R: Responsible
Does the work. A task can have several Responsible people, but it needs at least one.
A: Accountable
Owns the result and signs it off. Exactly one person per task, so the buck stops somewhere.
C: Consulted
Gives input before the work is finished or a decision is made. Two-way conversation.
I: Informed
Kept up to date on progress or the outcome. One-way communication.
Rules that make a RACI chart work
The generator checks the first two for you as you fill it in.
One Accountable per task
Two owners means no owner. If you can't choose one, the task is probably two tasks.
At least one Responsible
A task with an owner but nobody doing it won't get done. The Accountable person can also do the work.
Keep Consulted short
Every C is a conversation that can slow things down. Consult the people whose input changes the result. Inform the rest.
Read it by column too
A person with a column full of Rs and As is overloaded. A column with nothing in it may mean someone is missing from the plan.
From chart to action
A RACI chart says who owns each task. It doesn't show whether the work is moving. "Turn into a Kanban board" copies every task, with its roles written on the card, into a free KanbanQuick board where you can drag work from To Do to Done. No signup needed.
RACI for your whole team
Signed-in teams can assign RACI roles to real teammates on every task, filter the board to "tasks I'm responsible for" and see the full matrix view. It's included on the free plan for up to 3 team members.
Common questions
What does RACI stand for?
Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed. Responsible people do the work, the Accountable person owns the outcome and signs it off, Consulted people give input before decisions, and Informed people are kept up to date afterwards.
Can a task have more than one Accountable person?
No. Each task should have exactly one Accountable person so there is a single owner for the result. It can have several Responsible, Consulted and Informed people.
Can the same person be Responsible and Accountable?
Yes, on small teams the owner often does the work too. In this generator, mark them Accountable and they are treated as responsible as well, so the task passes the check.
Is my RACI chart saved anywhere?
Only in your own browser. Nothing you type here is sent to KanbanQuick. Export it as CSV or copy it into a spreadsheet to keep a copy elsewhere.
What is the difference between RACI and RASCI or DACI?
RASCI adds Supportive for people who help the Responsible person without owning the work. DACI (Driver, Approver, Contributors, Informed) is used for a single decision rather than a list of tasks.
